One-Of-A-Kind Textiles
What does one-of-a-kind mean?

We travel to Japan to source vintage and antique kimono and textiles for our collections. Once back at our workshop, each kimono is carefully disassembled, hand-inspected for imperfections and flaws, and catalogued for use. Our design team uses our fabric library to create designs, thoughtfully considering print placement, fabric qualities, and cut.

Because of the size of antique kimono, and after working around imperfections and wear in the fabric, we are only able to create a single garment out of every vintage fabric sourced. Therefore, every garment we make out of vintage fabric is truly one-of-a-kind - there is only one in the world.

Are all Asiatica clothes made from vintage textiles?

Asiatica has been primarily focused on making collections from antique and vintage textiles from Japan since the 1970s. But in addition, we also source high-end and speciality fabrics from independent mills and textile design companies from around the world.

How do I care for my vintage fabric garment?

Often, with special care, vintage fabric can be washed by hand with cool water, delicate soap and laid flat to dry. But generally due to the age and unique dying practices used in Japanese textiles, we recommend dry cleaning for most customers and refer Arrow Fabricare Services, located in Kansas City.
